outreach

being salt and light

Jesus served, showed mercy, and met the needs of the people all around Him.
As a local body, here are just a few of the ways we share the love of Christ with our neighbors in and around St. Mary’s County, and around the world.

WARM (Wrapping Arms ‘Round Many) is a faith-based, ecumenical effort providing breakfast and dinner, and safe, warm shelter to homeless individuals in St. Mary’s County during the coldest months of the year. Our people help staff hosting churches over the winter.
We support the CareNet Pregnancy Center of Southern Maryland. In a safe and private setting, this agency helps women explore alternatives to abortion when facing an unplanned pregnancy. Several of our members are personally involved in this ministry.
Care Net's  services are FREE of charge and include testing, education on pregnancy and parent-related topics, maternity and children’s clothing, abortion recovery support, referrals for medical care, community services, and adoption/foster care.
We financially support H.O.P.E. (Helpers Overcoming Problems Effectively) of Southern Maryland.  This faith-based community agency provides assistance to those who need help with energy and medical expenses, rent and food. We refer those who call us for help to H.O.P.E. We often donate and deliver food to their clients.
AWANA Clubs not only help kids memorize the Bible, they seek to reach the other kid for Christ.  Clubbers are encouraged to invite their friends to join them on Sunday nights.
We regularly support Esrael Seyum, the regional director of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. We also participate in various IVCF special events and host their progressive dinner each year.
Each November, we partner with Samaritan’s Purse by participating in their Operation Christmas Child Project. We pack special shoe boxes filled with small gift items. Samaritan’s Purse then delivers the boxes to kids in various countries, as a way to share the love of God and present the Gospel. Our AWANA kids give their rewards to buy presents and our youth group serves at the Baltimore distribution center to prepare the boxes for shipment.
