Jesus is our example

"Becoming Like Jesus” isn’t just some catchy tag line. Becoming Like Jesus is the goal of our lives at SAYSF Bible Church. That’s why, as His disciples, we believe there’s no better way to become like Him than to do what He did. Jesus served, showed mercy, and met the needs of the people all around Him.
As a local body, here are just a few of the ways we “go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37), while sharing the love of Christ with our neighbors in and around St. Mary’s County, and around the world.
This year, as in previous years, SAYSF is participating in the WARM program for the homeless in St. Mary’s County. WARM (Wrapping Arms ‘Round Many) is a faith-based, ecumenical effort providing breakfast and dinner, and safe, warm shelter to homeless individuals in St. Mary’s County during the coldest months of the year.
SAYSF Bible Church contributes each month to CareNet Pregnancy Center of Southern Maryland. This agency is committed to helping women explore their options when facing an unplanned pregnancy in a safe and confidential setting. SAYSF members are also personally involved in this ministry.
Care Net's  services are FREE of charge and include testing, education on pregnancy and parent-related topics, maternity and children’s clothing, abortion recovery support, referrals for medical care, community services, and adoption/foster care.
H.O.P.E. (Helpers Overcoming Problems Effectively) of Southern Maryland has been serving St. Mary’s County since its founding in 1985. This community agency provides financial support to those who need help with energy and medical expenses, rent and food. SAYSF contributes financial support each month. Adults and youth have also contributed food, and helped create and deliver Thanksgiving baskets for neighbors in our community through H.O.P.E.
SAYSF’s Awana “Truth & Training” Club, may visit nursing homes as a way to share God’s love with residents
SAYSF Bible Church provides prayer and monthly financial support to Esrael Seyum, regional director of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. In September 2022, we hosted appetizers for the Progressive Dinner held by the InterVarsity groups of St. Mary's College of Maryland and College of Southern Maryland.  The dinner was an outreach to new students and a way to introduce them to area churches.
Pastor Larry Crabtree is deeply involved with the Maryland State Police and St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office as a county law enforcement chaplain. We have also paid tribute to our county’s first responders through special events planned and hosted here at SAYSF.
At Christmas time, SAYSF members partner with Samaritan’s Purse by participating in their Operation Christmas Child Project. We assemble shoe boxes filled with items such as toys, school supplies, hygiene items, clothes and accessories to please children of various ages from around the world. Samaritan’s Purse then delivers the boxes to various countries, and gives them to children as a way to share the love of God. SAYSF teens also help at distribution centers to prepare the boxes for shipment.
